Directories - Free

There are three types of web directories, the paid, bidding and free. For most people they would choose to place their site in a free directory. The difference in directories aside from the way they are paid is the location. With bidding directories you bid against others for a premier spot, with paid directories you get placed according to website niche and with free you get placed by category. With free directories you don’t have to worry about paying to have your site listed you submit your site and they will find you a place.

Free directories sometimes place you in a spot where people will find out but they are not premier locations. But for most people if it is free then it doesn’t really matter. Some free directories will have a donation section. If you make a donation they will place you in a better location than those who have not donated. This can be for your benefit. You get placed in a great directory and for a small donation you can get a great spot.

What is great about directories is that you can find any information about other directories. Which is like a website within a website. Free directories are the way to go if you are starting out and you don’t have much money to spend on advertising.
